BWSI 2012 Program Schedule

The Bahamas Writers Summer Institute 2012 begins with Writers in the Round on Sunday, July 8th, 5-7pm, at the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas… and following that we have three weeks of readings, conversations with authors, and a Visiting Lecture, reading and master …class with renowned Jamaican novelist Patricia Powell. Here is the schedule!

BWSI 2012:Sunday, July 8th at the NAGB, 5-7pm– Opening Night: Writers in the Round – Readings by past participants and faculty of BWSI
 
 
Wednesday, July 11th at Buy the Book, 6-9pm – The Writing Life Series: Into the Void: Writers talk about their Creative Process, with Asha Lelawatee Manoo Rahming, Christi Cartwright and others!
 
 
Saturday, July 14th, NAGB, 5-7pm – Writers in Community Series: Screening of Children of God followed by a conversation with writer and filmmaker Kareem Mortimer
 
 
Wednesday, July 18th, Buy the Book, 6-9pm – The Writing Life Series: The Lovers: Helen Klonaris talks about the birthing of her first book, her creative process, going away and coming home, publishing…
 
 
Saturday, July 21st, Buy the Book, 5-7pm – Writers in Community Series: Reading and Conversation with writer, musician, architect, Patrick Rahming
 
 
Wednesday, July 25th, Buy the Book, 6-9pm– The Writing Life Series: Angelique Nixon on the works of Patricia Powell
 
 
Friday, July 27th, COB’s Chapter One Books, Thompson Blvd, 6-9pm– Visiting Writer Lecture with Patricia Powell: In Search of Caribbean Masculinities
 
 
Saturday, July 28th, COB, Main Campus, Room F7, 10am-1pm– Patricia Powell’s Master Class in Fiction ($50 per participant) 

Sunday, July 29th, NAGB, 5-7pm – Writers in Community Series: A reading by Patricia Powell

 

NOTE: With the exception of Patricia Powell’s Master Class in Fiction (also open to the public), all BWSI events are free of charge and open to the public.
